What is this page about? This page is designed to offer information and/or insights (such as they may be) that relate to my specific area of study, which is the assessment and pedorthic treatment of issues relating to the foot and ankle. I will offer information about a variety of different foot, ankle, and lower leg conditions (some speaking as a C.Ped, others as just a guy who has a lot of experience working with people in specialty running stores). Check out the descriptons of common foot conditions below to see some examples . I will also try to answer specific questions, which can be asked by e-mailing me at wrccped@gmail.com. Additionally, I will offer suggestions for keeping feet healthy and injury-free, as well as thoughts about a number of subjects related to foot health and/or running. If there's something you'd like to see discussed here, let me know. I'm open to suggestions.
What is a C. Ped? "An ABC Certified Pedorthist is a healthcare professional who has demonstrated their qualifications and competency through a thorough and detailed examination process. This individual has been specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic patient care. This includes patient assessment, formulation of the treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management. An ABC Certified Pedorthist fits, fabricates, adjusts, or modifies devices that reflect his or her education and training. The profession of pedorthics is the provision of patient care and services by or under the direction and supervision of an ABC Certified Pedorthist to provide the application of a pedorthic device for the prevention or amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle." -Excerpt from the American Board for Certification in Prosthetics, Orthotics, & Pedorthics publication "Pedorthist Book of Rules & Candidate Guide"
